How It Works
When an email is sent to a recipient, the email server looks to see which server handles mail for the domain using the MX records configured at DNS. MX records specifies which server will receive mail for a given domain.
Each MX record is given a priority (the MX level), the lowest being the primary mail server.
The primary mail server is responsible for receiving the mails and for delivering them to the appropriate user mailbox.
Mail delivery is first attempted to be delivered to the primary mail server (the mail server indicated by the MX record with the lowest priority). If that server is not reachable then the mail will be attempted to be delivered to the mail server with the second lowest MX level (In this case Backup Mail server implemented by Binary, for you).
By simply adding an additional MX records to your DNS zone, Your redundancy is active and you can ensure that mail sent to your organisation is never lost or delayed. In the event that your primary mail server is not available for any reason, all the mail are automatically sent to one of our backup mail servers instead.
Our systems will store your Email at the respective users' mailbox, allow the email users to login to our server for sending/receiving mails (If you 'The Administrator' allow them). Binary's Server thus, then automatically forward any stored mail to your server as soon as soon as it detect (Using SNMP) your server is back on-line and functional.
